Advertisements: Initial Idea

We are tasked to create a magazine advert, the advert would be for our album digi-pak.
The photo's will also have to be an original and not been taken from my music video.

My group decided that we wanted to create a range of advertisements to fit the different shapes of adverts you see in magazines and in the end we decided on creating a Half page, Full page and Double page advert.

Like we have with the rest of the project we intend on making the adverts along the style with alot of Joy Division photography and artwork and we think we will be talking many photos along a deindustrialisation theme.

We used a book for research on the artwork and for inspirationm, the book is called "Joy Division" and its by Kevin Cummins who was a photographer for JD at one point.
Because the band have disbanded now the adverts will only to advertise the new album and not to promote a up coming tour like a lot of music ads so we intend on only having relevant information for that. Another idea we had for the adverts was to keep them as minimalistic as possible, we didnt want to cover them with text and images and really wanted them to serve more as promotional hype .

We decided on the full page and the half page we would simply have the band name, album name, date of release and website. The double page would have a QR code (seperate post on this) HMV exclusive logo and other information.

Lastly we decided to have the images in black and white to fit with the whole JD theme and we would also download the font used for the JD albums and use this for the text.
